Not For Resale

St. Joan of Arc Scroll Medal is a unique design with Joan charging off a scroll with a Fleur de Lis behind her! It is 1 1/2" L, made of a durable metal with antique brass finish with reinforced hoop.

Joan medals are being sent to our soldiers in combat zones, veteran's hospitals and military families all over the U.S. More medals go out each week, thanks to you.

St. Joan of Arc Scroll Medal 2009 Update:

I designed this medal in April of 2006, thinking that I would send a few hundred medals to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan- at no charge to them. I wanted our military men and women to know that people here were thinking of them.

To date, I have sent over 4000 medals to soldiers, medics, chaplains, airmen, navy personnel, nurses, military families, Marine and Army Moms, chaplain assistants, brass, veterans and to veteran's hospitals. This medal has received international attention, from France, Italy to the Eastern European countries.

My primary focus was on the military. I had no idea of how many people love Joan of Arc, and they too requested medals.

I receive emails of appreciation from military people in Iraq and emails from returning soldiers saying that they wore the medal on their dog tags or kept it in their pocket the whole time.

I do not support this war- I support our brave military men and women who, after multiple deployments, continue to serve their country. I support and admire the military families who endure and sacrifice every day until their loved ones return. May this Iraq War end soon.

Story of Joan

Joan of Arc was asked by God to defend France. What makes Joan so eternally endearing is that she argued with God that she was just a peasant girl not a soldier. She followed her heart and guidance from God and finally convinced the (weak) King of France that she, a peasant girl, had been asked by God to save the country.

The French knights and generals were aghast that she was given a command but she won them over with her enormous faith, purpose and focus. The city of Orleans was captured by the English and for six months and their situation was dire: the French tried many times to get the city back and continually failed. Leading the French army into battle at Orleans, Joan inspired foot soldiers, bowmen, knights with her courage and rekindled their hopes: for the first time, they saw the possibility of retaking the city. In the battle of Orleans, Joan was shot in the shoulder with an arrow, knocking her from her horse. As the knights dragged her to safety, Joan told them to pull the arrow out. They argued--she demanded--they obeyed! Lying there, she asked, "Why is it so quiet?" The knights replied that they stopped the battle when she got hurt. At that moment, she jumped up, mounted her horse, picked up her banner and led the charge again to the astonishment of all! The French took the city.

Joan of Arc is a warrior, with heart, purpose and appeals to those of all faiths and no faith! Mark Twain, for example, like many others wrote a book about her. Joan is a timeless, reluctant hero who inspired those who had lost heart with her faith and courage. She belongs to all of us across the ages.

Story of Joan of Arc Scroll Medal

The medal you have in your hand is an original design made of the highest quality with a reinforced hoop. There is no chain or fancy box because I designed this medal for you, our fighting men and women to wear on your dogtags or keep in your pocket.

I started painting the life of Joan of Arc some time ago.

I show Joan when she is wounded with her arm bandaged and she is on her horse leading the charge to take Orleans. I left the painting to work on other projects. One day I walked in to my studio, and immediately knew that Joan had to be made in to a medal for our troops!

When you wear this medal, please know that you are not alone. St. Joan of Arc is at your side and close to your heart...

God Bless you,
Ms. Pat Benincasa, Artist
